Snakebite Assessment, Venomous bite Intervention, and Optimal Referral
Duration: 2 days
Target Audience: Primarily aimed at medical professionals working in peripheral centers, who are directly involved in snakebite care.
Minimum Qualification: MBBS degree with national/ state medical council registration
Objective: To address the critical knowledge gap in the effective treatment of snakebite victims, with a particular focus on challenges faced in rural healthcare setting.
Key Components of the Training:

Briefly understand Identification of snakes and venom toxicokinetics from the experts in the field

Initial Patient Assessment: practice assessing patients immediately following a snakebite, an essential skill for determining the appropriate course of action.

Bedside Coagulation Testing: learn how to perform and interpret bedside coagulation tests, an important aspect of monitoring and managing envenomation effects.

Antivenom Administration: how to load and give antivenom. Anaphylaxis management

Mechanical Ventilation Techniques: basic airway management, intubation and ventilation, basic modes

Safe management of surgical limb: when and who to refer? Fasciotomy and Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

Safe Transport Practices: when and how to transport. Guidance on the best practices for safely transporting snakebite victims to tertiary care center.
